Summer's End, Kiln Farm

I sat in the middle of the footpath that curves around Essex Hill, looking back towards Kiln Farm, trying to capture the mellow autumnal light on the hedgerow of berries.  Not a soul disturbed me during the two blissful hours of painting.  All I could hear was the distant voices of the farm preparing for their end of summer party that afternoon and the occasional rattle of an indignant wren.
